As a car owner, some basic maintenance tips are important to learn. Jump starting a car is one of the basics that any driver should know. Let’s look at the process of how to jump start another car.
First things first, you need a car with a working battery. Secondly, you need jumper cables to connect the two cars; the one with a dead battery and the one that is working.
To start the process, put both the cars on Parking or Neutral. Next, switch off the cars. The car batteries have two terminals; negative and positive. The jumper cables have two sides; red and black. On the working car’s positive terminal, connect one red side of the cable. Do the same for the other car. On the working car’s negative terminal, connect one black side of the cable. Instead of doing the same for the other car, connect the other black side of the cable to a metal part of the chassis and not on the battery.
Switch the working car’s engine on first and then the other car’s engine afterwards.
